A Dissection of the Literacy Crisis in America
About Me
My name is Trevin Morley. I am a senior at Arizona State University, majoring in English and minoring in Anthropology. My passion for reading and writing started very young . I have always loved the escapism that reading offered; how it lets you live a life outside of your own. I like to to take an anthropological perspective when reading, such as deciphering how certain texts behave in different societies and cultures. I also like to discover the meaning behind why texts are written and how they offer cultural, historical, or personal benefits to society.
I started this blog out of concern after seeing several social media posts about how children are no longer reading or accounts from teachers stating that their students could no longer follow basic instruction. Because of my passion for reading and education, I wanted to get to the bottom of why this is happening and find solutions.
